Iran welcomes cooperation in economic, political and cultural fields with Thailand,” Rouhani noted in a meeting with Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwina here on Sunday.
longstanding relations between the two countries is based on friendship and intimacy, and investors and businessmen of the two countries have maintained their ties, despite some difficulties related to the sanctions against Iran, Rouhani said, adding that the level of cooperation with Bangkok is more favorable in the light of sanctions lift.
The number of Thai trade and economic delegations to Tehran in recent months confirms the interest of both countries to increase the level of interaction, Rouhani said, adding, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Thailand will not retain their collaboration only in economy and trade, but in cultural, academic and tourism fields, too.
Rouhani pointed to the world’s struggle with terrorism, adding that issues such as violence, extremism and terrorism that has plagued our region and is gradually expanding globally, need to be dealt with, by all the countries to cooperate regarding the issue.
Pramudwina, for his part, hailed Iran’s victory in nuclear talks and the implementation of JCPOA, calling President Rouhani’s role in managing negotiations highly effective.
“I believe the Islamic Republic of Iran will become an economic power in the near future due to its special focus on training capable and expert human resources and taking advantage of post-sanctions era,” he underlined.
In the wake of lifting anti-Iran sanctions, Thailand merchants have an eye on Iran’s cooperation in trade, industrial, investment, financial, fisheries and agricultural areas, Pramudwina noted.
